Today, January 6, 2014 marks the triumphant return of One Small Step. Hopefully my life (kids, job or lack thereof, wife, family, theater, dogs, money, etc.) won’t get in the way of these truly important ink scratches again. I got this week covered at least.

If you are still coming here you know I haven’t had a new strip in a while. . . . .
OK, since MAY.
I’ve had every intention of starting up as soon as I could and look where that’s gotten me. It’s November and all I have to show are some blog posts and a few strips and some ideas written out in a word doc. Things piled up and the strip just got away from me. I’m sorry, but I have to admit defeat and throw in the towel.
Not on the strip, but on the year.
OSS is official in park for the rest of the year. We’re looking at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years coming up so let’s just admit it now, nothing was bound to happen anyway. I will spend the coming time working on updating the site’s backend (Frump, are you there?) getting book 2 finished (honest it’s 90% done), and preparing for a January reboot.
Yeah, I’ve said I was coming back a lot this summer/fall. But this time I mean it!

Hey gang,
Time for another update. The company website has been successfully switched over to WordPress. And everyone survived. It was a huge re-design, re-write, re-work on the site with a big changeover to a new marketing automation system and so much more. You’d think it would be months in implementation but we got it all done in about a month and a half.
And that’s not the half of it.
We were acquired at the beginning of July!
So the whole web site re-do had a bit of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic feel to it. Our little > 200 person company is joining a apx. 2,000 employee division of a apx. 60,000 employee parent company. It’s too early to tell if the layoff fairy is lurking around the corner. Short term (into next year), we’re all here. Long term……. um….. we’ll have to wait and see.
On a happy note, I’m starting to think of an OSS return in September. Stay tuned and see if that light at the end of the tunnel is real.
