Beige Boxes
on March 23, 2010
This past weekend ended up being a mini spring cleaning. We started in on Anne’s office with the plan of eventually bringing me out of the basement into the light. I also finally got these three old beige boxes out of the storage room. An old Micron (90 MHZ Pentium!), an old Dell (Windows 98!), and my old PowerMac 8500/120. Expensive monsters for their time but at the Best Buy recycling center now (minus hard drives). So long, boys.
I remember using a model similar to an 8500 in college computer art lab. It was the only computer hooked up to the scanner and had an old version of Photoshop on it. I think they were running System 7.
I think my first Mac was an SE/30 at work. It ran system 6. I also remember when Illustrator came on three floppy disks. So, that makes me, in internet years….. yikes!
The first Apple I used was an Apple IIgs and my first mac was a Performa 6200CD. I had a copy of Painter 5 on it that I still have on my iMac (g3).
