Meep no comic image! I tried to figure out why, and found a few things. Firefox, when you open the image in a new tab, gives the dreaded PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR which is all too common these days. (I often get it from direct links to imgur.) Edge doesn’t have an “open image” menu entry for broken images, but I got something interesting by “Inspect”ing the image for this page and copying the URL into a new tab. Edge gave much the same error, something about the server closing the connection, then showed the image a few seconds later!
I’m not sure what’s up server-side; I don’t do WordPress, but I’m guessing an update should fix it. The image is obviously there at the right URL, so I’m guessing the cause of the problem is the latest form of anti-hotlinking technology which probably requires an update to your WordPress/Comicpress install. I hope updating it doesn’t make too much work for you. 🙂
If you can find time to fix it, I would like to read it. TVTropes Recycled In Space page says, “According to protagonist Doug, One Small Step is Knight Rider IN SPACE!” That sound like just my kind of thing. 😀
Yawp! On posting the comment, the comic image appeared! This was surprising because no image had appeared on several pages beforehand.
Now it’s started working for this page, I also get the image for the next page, but not the one after. Hmm… And then on a 3rd try, I do get the image for the page after next. Maybe it doesn’t need an update but rather, use. Some hosts implement a cost/performance tradeoff where frequently-accessed data is cached in fast storage, and data which is rarely accesed is pushed to very slow storage indeed. Maybe I’ll be able to read it slowly, reloading each page after a minute or so. I’m not sure how I’ll make that work, but once done, it should be all right for quite a long time.

Or not; this page’s image is gone again. *sigh* I’m out of ideas.
