Wait a sec, lemme get this straight: All that Doug has to do in order to save the World is *QUIT HIS JOB???* But couldn’t the company simply have put his pro rata earnings and pension into an interest-bearing account (that they could then “borrow” from to stay solvent) until he came back? (Not a legal or ethical thing to do, granted; but Doug isn’t exactly around to complain…)
That’s so crazy it just might work! Let’s get you on Wall Street, or in Washington.
Actually, Doug will find losing his job won’t be easy. Is that a spoiler, or has everyone already figured that out?
Okay, this sequence was kind of confusing until I realized Mr. Rogers must have moved them forward in time when thy left the White Void.
And then he offers Doug a choice about going back. What if he had said no? If he stayed in the future he wouldn’t exist between 2006 and 3500… Presumably he would lose his job anyway after a couple of months’ absence… So the problem would be solved anyway… Unless those few thousand would make that much difference… In which case I would say Earth is screwed anyway…
