The Last Giant Leap

OSS was in part named after Neil Armstrong’s first words spoken from the surface of the Moon. I was 9 years old when Apollo 11 landed and Armstrong and Aldrin walked it’s surface. After the moonwalk was over I went outside and looked up and thought “There are men up there right now”. I am saddened by his loss today and hope we all can come together as a country and do great things again.
I too was nine and watching the grainy live feed of the descent, a memory indeblibly imprinted in my brain. The year before my dad had taken a group of cub scouts and my family to Houston Mission Control, it was what I wanted to do, but have not gotten there. . . Yet. To Neil it was just a job, a pretty big one, but just a job.
